Get to Know me!

Welcome to my first blog post!

What better way to start then with a get to know me through 20 facts.

1. I started making candles way back in 2017. My first candles were testers only, just for myself, friends and family. Ember Stag was then created in 2018, but was short lived after discovering I was pregnant. The fragrances made me nauseous and so I took a break and reopened at the end of 2019!

2. I am a huge reader (as you may know already!) my favourite authors are Laini Taylor, Taylor Jenkins Reid and VE Schwab.

3. Despite being a book lover, I sometimes struggle to find time to read. I rely on audiobooks for a lot of my reading instead.

4. I have recently started to crochet and love making cosy cardigans and jumpers for my kids.

5. I am a huge nature lover, spending time outdoors with my dogs, kids or alone always makes me feel better.

6. Speaking of dogs, I have two! A beautiful chocolate labrador called Bumble who is now 13 and a 3 year old golden retriever called Nellie. We also have two rescue guinea pigs called Jelly Bean and Honey Bee.

7. I love a good podcast. My go to podcasts are normally true crime, supernatural or historical.

8. My husband and I are also big fans of paranormal shows. Give us a ghost hunting show and we’re happy!

9. My husband’s family are Norwegian and when we are able to, love to travel up to Tromsø to visit them.

10. I am currently learning to speak Norwegian too and think I am getting a little better!

11. One of my best memories of Norway is visiting for New Years 2018, we sat on the top of a mountain for the New Year’s countdown and watched the Northern Lights!

12. I have been lucky enough to travel to a few countries. My favourite city to visit was Prague. I also love driving through the Highlands of Scotland.

13. I worked as a teaching assistant for almost 15years! But quit in 2022 to focus fully on the business. I don’t regret it for a second.

14. My favourite scents are normally the sweeter, fruitier ones or those with citrus. But one of my all time favourite scents was a peppermint and vanilla fragrance!

15. I love football. Watching not playing! I went to my first football game when I was 8 with my Grandad and had a season ticket at Aston Villa in to my 20s. I can’t wait to take my own kids.

16. I love to bake, especially with my kids. I’ve recently started making bread again. My most recent victory was bread rolls!

17. I love to be in the garden. I plant flowers and vegetables each year to grow with the children. I’m not a great success but we love having a go!

18. I have been a vegetarian since I was 17.

19. Sustainability is very important to me. I try to waste as little as possible at home and carry this through to the business as well.

20. Making candles is the best job I’ve ever had. I love every aspect of it from designing the labels, to choosing the perfect scent to hearing your feedback!
