Candle Care

To get the best out of your candle and to also ensure it is burning safely, here are a few tips and guidelines to follow!

All candles are hand poured myself with 100% high quality coconut soy wax, eco cotton wick or woodwicks,  fragrance oils and dyes. Wax Melts are made with 100% high quality coconut rapeseed wax.

None of our products are tested on animals and all are suitable for vegans. All candles and wax melts are CLP compliant and information can be found on the underside of the candle lid, with safety labels on the bottom of the candle.

Jar Candles (Cotton Wick)

  • Remember to trim your wick before each burn to around 5mm.

  • On the first burn of your candle, allow the candle to burn long enough that the wax pool reaches the edges of the vessel, this can take up to 4 hours depending on the size of your candle. If a full melt pool is not achieved, it can result in tunnelling, an uneven burn and eventually a candle which may not stay lit.

  • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time, or 2-3 hours for the 125ml jars.

  • Stop burning your candle when there is approximately 1/2 inch of wax left in the jar.  Do not let your whole candle become melted and never burn to the bottom of the jar. The coconut soy wax can also be used as wax melts so any left over wax can be removed from the jar and used within a wax melter.

  • If at any point you notice blackness around the jar or if you are worried about the flame, extinguish the candle and allow to cool before wiping the glass and trimming your wick.

 Wood Wick Candles

  • Remember to trim your wick before each burn to around 2-3mm.

  • Each wood wick is unique and so there will be differences in both size and grain. This will mean each candle will burn a little differently.

  • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

  • Coconut soy wax is environmentally friendly and burns cleaner than other waxes. It is very easy to clean jars after use so that these can be repurposed. They can be recycled or if you would like to return jars to me to be used again then reach out and I’ll give you a discount code to use in store once I receive the jars.

  • Frosting (white marks on the candle), cracking and wet spots (wax coming away from jar) can often be seen on coconut soy candles. This is completely normal and will have no impact on the burn of your candle in any way.

  • If your candle is topped with dried flowers or crystals, I advise you remove these before burning, this can be done easily.

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Handle with care as the jar and wax will become hot.

  • Always burn on a heat resistant surface.

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

  • Avoid drafts, direct sunlight and vibrations.

  • Never us a candle as a night light.

  • Extinguish all candles before going to bed.

  • Extinguish the flame if it gets too close to the container.

  • Never touch or move a burning candle when the wax is liquid.

  • Never use a sharp object to remove wax drippings from a glass holder.

  • Place burning candles at least three inches apart from each other.

  • Never extinguish candles with water.

  • Never burn a candle near anything flammable and keep clear of foreign objects including matches and wick trimmings. When not in use, keep your candle covered to avoid dust and other foreign objects entering the wax.

  • Caring for your candle will prolong its life, ensure an even burn and achieve the greatest scent throw.

Wax Melts

Our coconut rapeseed wax melts are to be used in a wax melter or oil burner to release the fragrances. Although wax melts are wickless, and you don’t need to lit them up directly, they still pose some risks during their use. These risks are associated with electrical melters or oil burners that require tea light.

  • Never leave an electric or non-electric wax melter unattended.

  • Do not use as a night light and always extinguish before going to bed.

  • Keep your burner away from flammable objects.

  • Place your burner on a flat even surface and never move while it is lit.

  • Keep your wax pool free from debris

  • Keep away from children and pets

  • Keep away from draughts

  • Do not use sharp objects to clean wax from your burner.

  • Do not add water to your wax melts

  • Be careful not to overfill your burner causing wax to overflow.
